Service Overview

Founded in 1898, Morris Moving provides logistics services to interior designers, private collectors, auction houses, and galleries.

Our Values

Morris Moving has been owned and run by an unbroken chain of sons and grandsons since its founding over a century ago. Our values and continued success are grounded in hard work, scrupulous attention to detail, and an effort – both resolute and genuine – to extend the same level of service to our clients as we provide to our own family.

Designer Services

We work with leading interior designers around the world, taking care of the logistics side of their business while they concentrate on creating remarkable interiors for their clients.

Regardless of the scale of a project, Morris Moving has the resources and experience to collect, consolidate, store, ship and install items at locations around the globe. At Morris Moving, movement of each item is supervised by our experienced Designer Services team, and carried out by our skilled, long-tenured packing, moving, and installation crews.

A reliable and efficient logistics partner is vital to a designer’s success and ability to complete ambitious projects according to client deadlines.

Shipping & Transport

We handle transport for a range of designer needs, from a single light fixture moved locally, to large furniture collections shipped overseas.

We have a number of long-standing relationships with strategic partners around the world and  maintain connections with airlines, shipping agents, and local handling organizations, to ensure the quick and safe transport of our shipments through airport cargo warehouses and foreign ports.

Sea Freight

Sea freight offers an efficient and cost-effective transport option for moving the numerous items involved in larger projects, as well as for individual items with unwieldy, non-conventional dimensions. This option is also advised when time is not a principal consideration. When appropriate, temperature-controlled containers can be used to ensure a safe and proper transport environment.

Air Freight

When timing is urgent, we can call upon well-established international relationships to move shipments seamlessly to or from major air transit hubs throughout the world. We pack and crate items at pick-up locations, help manage customs documents and other legal particulars, coordinate air shipment as well as with overseas partners to manage receipt and delivery to the final destination.

Road Transport

We own and operate a fleet of high-security, satellite-tracked vehicles equipped with air-ride suspensions for the transport of high-value objects by road throughout the United States.

Packing & Crating

Our approach to protecting the integrity of client items is grounded in the experience of our firm, stretching back multiple generations, packing and crating fragile, high-value artwork, fixtures, and furniture.

We evaluate items based on a number of criteria, including the materials, condition, age, and planned mode of transport (road, sea, air; or combination thereof), before selecting the most appropriate packing solution.

We have particular experience packing and transporting irregularly-shaped and delicate items, including those made from sensitive or non-conventional materials. Packing materials are crafted to specification, with cardboard, acidfree tissue, polyethylene, or other materials, as appropriate, incorporated to ensure and preserve the condition of pieces.

Collection & Consolidation

We work with clients to schedule the collection of items, sometimes from remote locations, and for pick up of newly-purchased pieces from suppliers.

Worldwide Collection

We have developed a wealth of relationships and partnerships over the course of our firm’s 120 year history. With our connections and global network of logistics partners, we are able to collect items throughout the world. Our Designer Services coordinators ensure items are collected, packed, and safely transported to their designated destination, whether that be our warehouse for temporary storage, another vendor, or the installation location itself. We dispatch one of our experts to oversee operations if we are not familiar with a local operator in a remote location. Alternatively, we can also send an entire team to manage the collections process and fully ensure the consistent application of our high standards.

Consolidation

We are capable of consolidating collections of any size. Items can be shipped to our receiving warehouse directly from the manufacturers and held in storage until a designer requests partial or full delivery of items.

Designers take advantage of this service in instances where the ultimate destination is either not ready to accept delivery or when it’s preferred to have all items delivered at once rather than piecemeal.

Upon receipt, we unpack and inspect all items for damage. If impairments are discovered, we take photographs of the damage and confer with designers regarding a desired course of action, such as returning affected items to the manufacturer. After inspection, all items are repackaged, inventoried, and placed into storage until delivery is requested.
