Our story starts in 1898. That’s when Abraham Morris, a recent immigrant from Russia, opened the doors to Morris Moving & Storage. From his modest office on Third Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan he began to assist New Yorkers with a challenging, but necessary task: Moving. Of course, things were different back then. For example, trucks hadn’t yet been invented. So when Abraham started moving his first customers, he did so the way it had been done for hundreds of years – by horse and carriage. From these humble beginnings, Abraham Morris grew the company by providing reliable moving and storage services with unsurpassed customer service. The business was soon moving homes and businesses throughout the five boroughs.

In 1935, Abraham’s son Louis joined the family business. Louis carried the business through the Great Depression and into the post-World War II boom years, when customers began to settle in New York’s suburbs. In 1972, after close to 40 years at the helm, Louis passed the torch to his son Stephen. Stephen relocated the business to the northern border of New York City, in Westchester County. Building on the success of the previous two generations, Stephen expanded the Morris brand of professionalism and reliability to families and businesses across the country.

In 2007, Jacob – great-grandson of Abraham and son of Stephen – joined the ranks to bring the family moving tradition into the 21st century. With computers and GPS tracking, the business is now at the forefront of innovation and efficiency. But more importantly, Abraham’s commitment to reliable moving and storage services remains honored every day.
