 To tell our story one must go back to the year 1898. That’s when Abraham Morris first opened the doors to Morris Moving & Storage on Third Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Of course things were different back then. For example, trucks hadn’t yet been invented. So when Abraham started moving his first customers, he did so the old-fashioned way – by horse and carriage. And from these humble beginnings, Abraham Morris grew the company by providing reliable moving and storage service and soon had customers throughout the five boroughs. Since then, Morris Moving & Storage has passed down through 3 successive generations. In 1935 Louis Morris took over the family business from his father Abraham. In 1972, after close to 40 years at the helm, Louis passed the torch to his son Stephen, who relocated the business to Westchester and expanded the Morris brand of professional moving services to families and businesses across the country. Finally, in 2007, Abraham’s great-grandson and Stephen’s son Jacob joined the ranks to bring the family moving tradition well into the 21st century. And while the Morris family has since abandoned the horse and carriage for a fleet of diesel-charged trucks, the same dependable moving and storage services that our customers have come to depend on since 1898 remains the same. |
